Instead of developing x-ray film in a dark room, the x-rays
are sent directly to the computer and can be viewed on the screen, stored or
printed out within minutes. There are several nice benefits of using this new
technology. This technique uses 50 – 90% less radiation than the typical x-ray
and there is barely any wait time to develop. The images are available on
screen in a few minutes after they have been taken. The image of the tooth can
be enhanced and enlarged from its actual size making it easier to show you
where and what the problem is. Images can be sent electronically to another
doctor, specialist or to the insurance company for claims submittal. Images are scanned into the computer system utilizing the DenOptix QST technology. You can get additional information on this technology by clicking on the following link: http://www.gendex.com/Us/products/digital_imaging/denoptix/denoptixqstmatt.asp?navid=550997&lan=Us
Intraoral X-rays are the most common type of dental x-ray taken. These x-rays provide a lot of detail and allows Dr. Schinto to find cavities, check the health of the tooth root and bone surrounding the tooth, check the status of developing teeth and monitor the general health of your teeth and jawbone. These images are taken with the new Gendex 765 DC. For more information on this technology, you can go to the following link: http://www.gendex.com/Us/products/intraoral_xray/765dc/765dc.asp?navid=550123&lan=Us
Extraoral X-rays show teeth but their main focus is the jaw and skull. These X-rays do not provide the detail found with intraoral X-rays and therefore are not used for detecting cavities or for identifying problems with individual teeth. Instead, extraoral X-rays are used to look for impacted teeth, monitor growth and development of the jaws in relation to the teeth, and to identify potential problems between teeth and jaws and the temporomandibular joint. The Schinto Dental office uses the Gendex Orthoralix 9000. Ergodontic Pendulum ceiling mounted flat screen LCD screens are in all operatories for every patient for entertainment and education. The screens can be viewed from all angles while in the dental chair. The Pendulum Mount™ is engineered to place an LCD flat-screen monitor in multiple viewing positions in a dental, medical or hospital setting. In a dental operatory, the rotational pendulum motion allows the patient, dentist and staff to view dental images and educational programming while the patient is seated upright, and the patient to view entertainment and educational programming while reclined with unobstructed and comfortably aligned viewing angles. When not required, staff can simply move the monitor out of the way of X-ray and other equipment. BienAir electric handpieces are used for reduced drill sounds and comfort. Presently, electric technology delivers cutting instruments that are more efficient than the old airturbines. Cavity preparation is quicker, more precise, and less traumatic with this modern electrical technology than is possible with air turbines. Moreover, electrical systems are quiet. The characteristic loud hissing noise of the air turbine should soon be a thing of the past and they are at Schinto Dental. Our drills are quiet, consistent, efficient electrical systems.
